If you have purchased a new frying pan that is not pre-seasoned or if the seasoning on your pan has worn out and you are not aware of how to season a cast iron frying pan, then this post gives you the procedure to be carried out for seasoning.

Procedure to Season a Cast Iron Frying Pan

Given below is the procedure to be followed:

•	Scrub the frying pan clean with warm soapy water and dry it.
•	Warm up the pan a bit and coat it with a layer of melted shortening to the outer side as well as inner side; it is advised not to use liquid cooking oil.
•	Pre-heat the oven to 350° and place the pan inside on a cooking sheet with a foil cover so that it can catch any drips.
•	Set the oven at this temperature for approximately 20 minutes; decrease the temperature if it starts smoking.
•	Remove the pan and drain off the excessive grease. Place back the pan in the oven in an upside down position for around two to three hours if the pan is new else re-seasoning may require about one hour.
•	Switch off the oven and allow the pan to cool down before taking it away from the oven.

You can follow this procedure to season a cast iron frying pan, which will last for along time if proper care is taken.

Frying pans can be used to prepare juicy and delicious hamburgers in a simple manner. This post gives the procedure to cook hamburger in a frying pan. Given below is the recipe to make four luscious hamburgers.

Ingredients

Here are the required ingredients:
•	Ground beef – 1 lb
•	Button mushrooms- 2 or 3 (cut into fours)
•	Scallions- 1 to 2 (Minced)
•	Red wine vinegar- 1 tsp
•	Hamburger buns- 4

Procedure

To prepare patties: Put chopped mushrooms, minced scallions and red wine vinegar to a mixing bowl and add the ground beef to it. Blend everything with your hand and flatten them into patties of 5 inches diameter and ½ inch thickness. You can get around four patties with this measurement.

To cook patties: Set the burner or stove-top grill on a medium-high heat. Pre-heat the frying pan to a temperature wherein a water droplet doesn’t stick on to the surface. Keep the patties in the frying pan and cook for around three minutes. Toss over the patties and cook for one more minute. If desired, add sliced cheese on top of them. Close the lid and let it cook for two more minutes. Take away the hamburgers from the pan and keep them in the buns. The hamburgers can now be served with toppings like ketchup, sliced onions, tomatoes or lettuce.

This is the simplest way to cook hamburger in a frying pan.

Similarities and Differences between a Frying Pan and a Skillet

To be frank, there is no difference between those two kitchen appliances. The names such as fry pan and skillet referred to the same kitchen appliance. The frying pan or skillet is a flat pan, which is having shallow sides that has a lot or some slope. It is also designed with a lid. The only difference between them is shape of the sides.

Appearance and Physical Dimensions

The skillets are deep in shape similar to sauce pans, which are also called frying pans. The frying pan is a kitchen appliance, which is designed with long handles for frying food. These pans are not for the purpose of braising or slow cooking. These are not designed with lids due to absence of seal. The pans are surrounded by flared out sides, but the height is shallow. The basic requirement of a frying pan is it should be in low weight to move easily. All frying pans or skillets are molded with long handles to protect hands from heating. The size of each skillet or frying pan is seven to eight inches.

So, there you have it; some of the differences between a skillet and a frying pan.
